Benefits After Separation FAQ

General Information

When will my coverage end?

Your coverage will end at midnight on the day you are no longer employed or eligible for benefits. You’re eligible to continue your coverage through COBRA for 18 months (or longer, based on state laws) following your employment ending, or until you are covered under another group plan or become eligible for Medicare, whichever occurs first. If selected, COBRA coverage will be retroactive to your termination date, with no lapse in coverage for those benefits covered under COBRA. You will be responsible for 100 percent plus 2 percent administrative fees for the COBRA premium on an after-tax basis during the period of time you wish to be enrolled in COBRA coverage. Please refer to COBRA Rates sheet for this plan year at Your TTEC Benefits or if provided directly by your Human Capital Business Partner or Manager.

Can I stop benefits now?

You cannot change, cancel, or stop deductions for your medical, dental, vision, or flexible spending account(s) prior to your termination without a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). You may, however, make changes to voluntary benefits, except for Pre-Paid Legal, by reaching out to the TTEC Benefits Center at 1.855.722.0340. Additionally, you may stop your 401(k) contributions at any time by contacting T. Rowe Price.

What if I am on a Leave of Absence on my last day of employment?

Your Leave will terminate on the day that your job is eliminated. Your Manager or People & Culture (Human Capital) Business Partner will work with you on arrangements for your final pay and paperwork. If you’re receiving Disability benefits on your last day of employment, your benefits may continue until you are no longer considered disabled or have met your maximum coverage limit, or you are no longer considered eligible under the plan.

What benefits am I eligible for?

You are eligible for plans that are COBRA-eligible, which include medical (FT Employees), dental, vision, and Flexible Spending Accounts, except for the Dependent Care FSA. Please note that you can only enroll in the coverage you had when you terminated from TTEC. For instance, if you had medical and dental, those are the plans you can enroll in for continuation of coverage. You cannot add new coverage.

COBRA stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act and allows employees who are terminated to continue participating in medical, dental, vision, and health flexible spending account plans for up to 18 months (or longer based on state law) by filling out a COBRA application and paying the COBRA premium.

Will I be eligible for COBRA?

You will be eligible for COBRA when your employment with the company ends if you are currently enrolled in medical, dental, vision, or healthcare flexible spending account. Alight is the company’s COBRA administrator and will send a COBRA packet to you at the most current address in the company’s records. To continue your coverage under COBRA, you will make elections and submit payments to Alight. Please refer to the information packet for COBRA election deadlines. If you have questions regarding the COBRA letter or if you do not receive your information, please contact the TTEC Benefits Center at 855.722.0340 or via Your TTEC Benefits. Make sure you notify the company if you move prior to receiving your packet.

When will I receive my COBRA packet?

COBRA packets are not immediately generated at the time of termination. Termination files are sent to Alight weekly on Monday and Thursday and they initiate and mail packets within 7- 10 days after receiving and processing the termination file. Please allow time for this process to take place. You will have 60 days from date of termination to elect COBRA. Coverage is retroactive to your termination date, with no lapse in coverage for those benefits covered under COBRA.

How do I get more information on COBRA?

The company has up to 30 days to notify Alight of your coverage ending. The COBRA packet will contain all the necessary forms, current rates and COBRA information that you will need to continue your medical, dental, vision and/or flexible savings account. If you have questions, please contact Alight at 855.722.0340 or visit Your TTEC Benefits. You will continue to have access to Your TTEC Benefits for the duration of your COBRA enrollment period, and thereafter, if you elect COBRA. If you do not, then your access to Your TTEC Benefits will cease once your COBRA enrollment period ends.

401(k) Profit Sharing Plan

Will I have 401(k) deductions taken from my final paycheck?

Contributions to your 401(k) will be deducted from your regular earnings on your final paycheck, although deductions will not be taken from severance or paid time off (PTO) payouts, if applicable.

Can I change or stop my 401(k) contribution percentage before my final pay check?

T. Rowe Price provides the company with weekly updates of all contribution changes. To change your 401(k) contribution amount, you must request the change directly with T. Rowe Price at least 10 days prior to the pay date you want the change to be effective.

What will happen to my 401(k) loan after my employment ends?

If you currently have an outstanding loan from your 401(k) account, you may continue to pay your loan payments directly with T. Rowe Price or you may pay off your loan balance in full. If no payment is received within 90 days your loan will be considered a taxable distribution and may be subject to an early distribution penalty. To obtain your outstanding loan balance or to set up a payment, please contact T. Rowe Price.

Am I eligible for a 401(k) match contribution after my last day of employment?

The company provides a discretionary match on a quarterly basis, which has typically been $0.50 on the dollar up to a 6 percent contribution rate. To be eligible, you must have completed six months of service and be employed on the last day of the quarter.

Do I keep the employer match contributions deposited into my 401(k) after I leave the company?

Even if you leave your job, the vested balance in your account is always yours.

How soon will I be able to take a distribution from my 401(k) account after I am no longer an employee?

Please allow for 30 days following your last day of employment to insure your account is updated with your final contribution and termination date. If you’re eligible for a future employer match contribution, you may consider waiting for this to be deposited as there is a fee for each distribution check processed. Before you request a cash withdrawal, you should consider the tax consequences and may want to check with a tax advisor or accountant. Generally, all withdrawals that are eligible for rollover are subject to a 20 percent mandatory federal withholding and in addition, you may be subject to a 10 percent early withdrawal penalty if the withdrawal is made before the date you reach age 59 ½.

Is there a fee to take a distribution from my 401(k) balances?

There is a fee of $25 for each distribution processed from your 401(k) balance. This fee applies to distributions taken as a cash withdrawal as well as distributions that are rolled into another qualified plan or IRA.

Can I leave my 401(k)-account balance in the Plan after I leave the company?

If your account balance is greater than $7,000, you may leave your account under the Plan. For those who have an account balance under $7,000, T. Rowe Price will give you 60 days following their notice to determine what you want to do with your account. You can roll the money into a Rollover IRA to maintain a tax-deferred status or you may also withdraw your contributions (which may result in a 10 percent tax penalty if made before age 59 ½). If T. Rowe Price does not hear back from you following the 60-day notice period, your account balance will be rolled over to an IRA.

Once I am no longer an employee, how to I update my mailing address on my 401(k) account?

If you move in the same year of your last day of employment, please update your new address by submitting and ASK Now >> HXconnect ticket at https://formeremployee.ttec.com. Marketplace Coverage

What is a health insurance “marketplace?”

The marketplace (or “exchange”) is an online portal that allows you to shop and compare health plans outside of the company’s employee plans. It can help you to explore all available options. With one application, you can:

  • Learn if you can get lower costs based on your income.

  • Compare your coverage options side-by-side and enroll.

  • Get answers to questions.

  • Find out if you qualify for Medicaid.

  • Determine if you are eligible for tax credits for private insurance.

  • Enroll in a health plan that meets your needs.

Marketplace representatives will be your primary resource for determining your eligibility for your state’s Medicaid benefits. As a result of Health Care Reform, some states have expanded Eligibility for Medicaid.

If I want to get health insurance through my state’s marketplace, what’s the process?

Visit your state’s marketplace for plans that will provide benefit coverage for the current plan year. Start at the www.healthcare.gov website to find the link to your state’s marketplace information.

Wellness Incentive

What happens to my wellness incentive when I leave TTEC?
